Brian Carlisle – Nine New Sex Assault Charges

Mission/Abbotsford – SEPTEMBER 7 UPDATE -On August 3rd, 2017, the Mission RCMP issued a news release regarding Abbotsford resident Brian Carlisle facing three charges of aggravated sexual assault. After the release, a number of new complainants came forward and Mr. Carlisle is now facing a further nine (9) charges of aggravated sexual assault. The investigation is continuing.

Police are concerned that there are still potential victims out there who are not yet aware of the potential change in their medical status; and, are encouraged to visit their family physician or primary care provider to receive the appropriate testing, states Sgt. Jeff Scott, Mission Plain Clothes Commander.

Anyone who has any information in relation to this investigation is asked to contact the dedicated tip line at 604-814-1644 or Crime Stoppers at 1-888-222-8477 if you wish to remain anonymous.

Carlisle’s Lawyer contacted FVN to emphasize that her client is out on bail, and the investigation continues.

AUGUST 4 ORIGINAL STORY – On July 19, 2017, Mission RCMP received a report that a man may have been engaging in unprotected sex while failing to disclose he is infected with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).

During the course of the investigation, police identified other victims and believe this man could have offended against additional women.

In an effort to further the police investigation, Mission RCMP are releasing a photo of 47-year-old Brian Carlisle. He is described as a Caucasian male, 220 lbs, 6’2, blue eyes and short brown hair. He is a resident of Abbotsford.

Mounties say that offences have allegedly occurred in Mission, Abbotsford, Coquitlam and Burnaby. However, Mr. Carlisle has been known to reside throughout the Lower Mainland and may have also lived in Ontario, Manitoba, New Brunswick and Vermont, United States. Investigators are not limiting their investigative efforts or the public appeal to these locations.

Mr. Carlisle has an online presence on a number of social media and dating sites.

Normally the RCMP would not disclose the medical status of a person charged with a criminal offence. However, in this case after careful consideration, the public interest clearly outweighs the invasion of Mr. Carlisle’s privacy. Anyone who has been intimately involved with Mr. Carlisle should visit their family physician or primary care provider to receive the appropriate testing. Police are also interested in speaking with any sexual partners of Mr. Carlisle.

Brian Carlisle has since been charged with three (3) counts of aggravated sexual assault. He appeared in Abbotsford Provincial Court on August 3 and has since been released on a number of court imposed conditions. Conditions include not accessing or utilizing any social networking or online dating websites, advising any person he is intending to have sexual intercourse with of his HIV status and wear a condom during sexual intercourse. His next court appearance is September 11, 2017.

Carlisle is no stranger to brushes with the law. In 2002, he opened the Holy Smoke Healing Centre downtown Chilliwack , in an attempt to change marijuana laws. Since then. he has been in trouble with Abbotsford Police and Hope RCMP on charges of cultivation and trying to offer unauthorized legal services.

Carlisle is also a Criminology grad from UFV.

Anyone who has any information in relation to this investigation is asked to contact the dedicated tip line at 604-814-1644 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-888-222-8477 if you wish to remain anonymous.
