Abbotsford – SEPTEMBER 1 UPDATE – The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has identified the victim of Thursday night’s fatal shooting in Abbotsford as 18-year-old Sehajdeep Sidhu. He did not have a criminal record but he was known to police. One of the two victims in hospital is a 17 year old who is expected to survive. The investigation continues.
AUGUST 31 – ORIGINAL STORY – Just after 6PM Thursday evening , Abbotsford Police responded to reports of shots fired near Gladwin Road and Huntingdon Road near South Poplar School.
One person died at the scene and two others are in hospital.
Free Lance Reporter/Cameraman Kevin MacDonald says that one person was taken to hospital in a private vehicle (an Audi) and that vehicle was later found abandoned. “Bullet holes clearly visible in car abandoned”. The vehicle was found abandoned on Marshall Road near Pandora Avenue.
APD are searching for a possible getaway vehicle, a Ford Escape.
There are reports of an abandoned and torched car on 272nd Street in Aldergrove. It has not been confirmed if that is realted to this shooting.
At 9 PM APD and IHIT released their statement:
Abbotsford Police Department responded to a report of shots fired near the intersection of Gladwin and Huntingdon Roads.
APD Officers located a deceased male at that location.
The APD’s Major Crime Unit and the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) are investigating this incident.
