Mission
The Canada Day fireworks display is getting bigger & better as the District of Mission and the Mission Raceway join forces to host an expanded display at the Mission Raceway Park.

Spectators will have a show to remember this Canada Day as the Mission Raceway and the District partner to put on a special Canada 150 fireworks display at Mission Raceway Park for the community.  This year marks the 125th anniversary of the District of Mission and the 25th anniversary of Mission Raceway Park.

The Mission Raceway Park allows for a bigger fireworks display than is possible in Fraser River Heritage Park, and the Raceway and District of Mission Parks, Recreation and Culture department are working with the fireworks provider to make sure it’s a show to remember.

Celebrate Canada’s 150th Birthday at Fraser River Heritage Park from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, and finish off the day with a spectacular fireworks display at Mission Raceway Park at 10:00 pm.  Residents may watch from their vehicles or view the show from the grandstand.

The BC Custom Car Association, operators of the track noted, ”We’re excited to welcome visitors to the raceway for a fantastic fireworks display celebrating Canada’s 150th Birthday. Visitors can enjoy some races and a fantastic view of the fireworks at the Raceway as the perfect way to cap off this important Canada Day.”

“Being Canada’s 150th birthday we wanted the fireworks to be special.  When the Raceway approached the District offering their site and additional funds, it was agreed that this was a great opportunity for a fantastic community fireworks show to celebrate this special year in Mission.” said Stephanie Key, Deputy Director of Parks, Recreation & Culture for the District of Mission.

Langley

Every Canada Day, two times the fun can be found in the Township of Langley, as free, family-oriented events are presented in both Fort Langley and Willoughby.

This year, the nation will be marking a very special birthday, and that means there will be more to see, do, and enjoy on Saturday, July 1, as Langley celebrates Canada 150.

The Township of Langley, Langley Events Centre, and 93.7 JRfm are once again partnering to present the Langley Canada Day JRBQ, along with title sponsor C & D Logistics. The event returns to Willoughby Community Park, next to the Langley Events Centre at 7888 – 200 Street, from 11:00am to 6:00pm. Parking and admission is free.

During the celebration, visitors can enjoy live musical performances and entertainment, a spray park, food trucks, and a barbecue to benefit Basics for Babies. Founded by JRfm in 1994, the program supports Lower Mainland Food Banks by providing diapers, baby food, formula, and other items for little ones in need.

A Kids’ Zone will be set up to keep youngsters busy with face painting, mini golf, Pacific Trackless Trains, community vendors, arts and crafts, and inflatables. A Canada Day ceremony will be held at 2:00pm, and throughout the day, country music performers and other entertainers will take to the JRfm Stage. Featured artists include Ashley Pater, Myles Murphy, Shawn Austin, and the Greater Vancouver Zoo. The newly built Willoughby Amphitheatre will also be in full swing with children’s entertainers, including Norden the Magician, the Springman Family Band, Dianna David, and Circus Lab.
