Fraser Valley Classic Car Show – July 16 – Heritage Park

Chilliwack – Great news is brewing with the surging Fraser Valley Classic Car Show.

Iconic Canadian coffee shop Tim Hortons is serving up lead sponsorship for this year’s event, running Sunday, July 16 at Chilliwack’s Atchelitz Threshermen’s Association (at Heritage Park).

“We’re flooded with emails,” says show manager Harv McCullough.

“More are coming in every day, I think we’ve turned a corner as Lower Mainland’s top true classic show.”

Registration opened over three weeks ago, with more than 80 cars already signed up, rolling in from White Rock to Hope. McCullough says they’re ahead of schedule to reach the limit 150.

“Just like Timmy’s isn’t your average coffee shop, ours isn’t your average car show,” he says.

The FVCCS separates itself from most classic shows by only allowing stock vehicles to enter — no hot rods, custom cars or kit cars.

“It’s purebreds,” explains McCullough.

“They’re what vehicles looked like when they rolled off the factory line.”

While cars are judged according to category — divided into four groups for both domestic and import — the biggest hit every year is the People’s Choice Winner.

Last year, the champion was a faithfully restored 1911 Ford Model T.

Having evolved from the Minter Gardens Classic Car Show, this year’s show also has Trevor McDonald playing live music that afternoon.

Anyone considering entry should sign up soon at www.fvccs.ca. Entry is free and doesn’t require membership in any clubs or associations. All vehicles must register in advance — none will be allowed to register at the show itself.

The FVCCS runs 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, July 16 at the Atchelitz Threshermen’s Association, located alongside Chilliwack Heritage Park, 44140 Luckakuck Way. A family friendly experience, Chilliwack’s ATA is a volunteer-run, 7km stretch of living, breathing history. From the restored tractor that’s half-buried in the children’s playground to the thumping antique engines and working blacksmith shop, there’s truly something for everyone. Great food and refreshments will be available to purchase. For more information, visit fvccs.ca.
