UPDATE – Convicted Killer Robert Raymond Dezwaan Recaptured

Mission -APRIL 15 UPDATE – Convicted killer Robert Raymond Dezwaan who went missing from a minimum-security prison in Mission has now been recaptured.

He’s the third convicted killer to escape the institution since 2014.

Correctional Service Canada said he was apprehended by Agassiz RCMP Saturday morning around 11:15 a.m.

An investigation is now underway into exactly how Dezwaan managed to escape

APRIL 14 ORIGINAL STORY – Corrections Canada as well as Police forces in the Fraser Valley are on the hunt for a convicted killer who went missing from Mission (Minimum Security) Institution on Friday.

Robert Raymond Dezwaan was serving a life sentence for the death of a 16-year old girl near Merritt in 2003.

When he attacked her, he was out on bail for attacking another girl in Kelowna.

He was discovered to be missing during the 3:45 PM Head Count.

Dezwaan 53-years-old and described as:

  • 6’1”
  • 186 lbs
  • fair complexion
  • green eyes
  • bald head

Anyone with information about Dezwaan’s whereabouts is asked to contact local police or call 911. Do Not approach this man.
