Abby Secondary Briefly Locked Down – Incident Down The Street

Abbotsford – Abby Secondary went into a brief 15 minute lockdown during the lunch hour on Thursday and immediately, there were thoughts of the fatal stabbing at the school on November 1.

A father-son dispute at a home on 32800 block of Bevan Avenue is what caused the lockdown. Allegedly the adult son pulled a knife on his dad.

Abbotsford School District issued this statement.

“The Abbotsford Police Department notified the Abbotsford School District of a person of interest within one of our school catchments. Out of an abundance of caution, we have placed the following schools on a Shelter In Place status: Godson Elementary, Abbotsford Middle School and Abbotsford Senior Secondary. All students and staff are safe.

“A Shelter In Place status means that a short term measure is enacted to protect students and staff from environmental or weather related emergencies. Windows and exterior doors are closed and locked, including portables.

No one was hurt as Abbotsford Police attended.
