On Thursday, January 29, 2015, just after 11:00 pm, 61-year-old Ronald James SCOTT of Abbotsford was killed while riding his bicycle in the 2000 block of Mt. Lehman Road. A vehicle collided with SCOTT and the driver fled the scene.

On Wednesday, June 10, 2015, the Abbotsford Police Department located the suspect vehicle involved in that fatal collision. A grey 2013 Ford Expedition was discovered at a property in the 28600 block of Huntingdon Road. APD investigators have also identified a person of interest with connections to the vehicle. Initial Release of January 30, 2015:

On Thursday, January 29, 2015 at 11:20 pm, the Abbotsford Police Department was called to the 2000 block of Mt. Lehman Road where a bicyclist had been severely injured. APD officers arrived on scene along with BC Ambulance staff but regrettably the male cyclist was pronounced dead at scene.

The victim, believed to be 40-60 years of age, was travelling southbound and was struck by an unknown vehicle that was travelling in the same direction. Given the amount of traffic in the area, it is likely that the collision took place only minutes before the APD received the call from the passers-by.

The driver of the vehicle involved in the fatal crash did not remain on scene. APD investigators have gathered evidence and are appealing to witnesses, and the driver, to come forward.

Police are still working to positively identify the victim and notify his family.
