The University of the Fraser Valley athletic department is set to host a series of youth sport camps in the month of August.
Cascades summer camps help kids excel in their athletic pursuits while having serious fun, and this year’s camp offerings include girls soccer (Aug. 22-26), boys basketball (Aug. 22-26) and girls volleyball (Aug. 29-Sept. 1).
The camps will feature expert instruction from UFV varsity head coaches, with assistance from current Cascades athletes, alumni, and/or community coaches. UFV head coaches Rob Giesbrecht (women’s soccer), Adam Friesen (men’s basketball) and Mike Gilray (women’s volleyball) will be running the camps in their respective sports.

• Girls soccer (Aug. 22-26) runs from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily at Abbotsford Exhibition Park (32470 Haida Drive). The camp is for athletes age 7-14, and the cost is $95 (includes camp T-shirt, $85 early-bird discount until June 30).
• Boys basketball (Aug. 22-26) features morning and afternoon sessions at the Envision Athletic Centre on the UFV Abbotsford campus (1395 McKenzie Road). The morning sessions (9 a.m. to noon) are for athletes going into grades 6-8, and the afternoon sessions (1 p.m. to 4 p.m.) are for those going into grades 9-12. Cost is $125.
• Girls volleyball (Aug. 29-Sept. 1) also runs at the Envision Athletic Centre. Morning sessions (9 a.m. to noon) are for athletes going into grades 6-8, and afternoon sessions (1 p.m. to 4 p.m.) are for those going into grades 9-12. Cost is $175 and includes a camp T-shirt.
