Chilliwack/Boise (CKNW) – A Chilliwack man is behind bars and facing charges of child enticement, after a police sting caught him trying to meet a teen for sex.
42-year-old John R. Jones was arrested Friday, after arriving at an Idaho parking lot to meet what he thought was a 14-year-old girl.
Instead, deputies from the Ada County Sheriff’s were waiting.
Police say Jones traveled to Boisie, where he posted a Craigslist ad looking for sex with teen girls.
That led detectives, masquerading as a young girl, to start a conversation online with him.
They exchanged messages “which became sexual in nature,” leading up to the meeting and his arrest.
Jones now faces charges of sexual abuse of a child under 16, lewd conduct with a child under 16, and enticement of a child over the internet.
That last charge is punishable by up to 15 years in prison.
Jones is currently being held on a $50,000 bond.
