BCTF Has A New Teachers Union Boss

Vancouver (CKNW/Van Sun)  – The BC Teachers’ Federation named its new President.

It was hardly the most riveting election, with former first vice-president Glen Hansman running unopposed.

Already pressing on his mind is the Supreme Court hearing on the contract language for class sizes and composition.

Hansman also paid tribute to former President Jim Iker :“While he’s been the face of the Federation it’s also a team-like environment, he’s probably one of the most patient, calm, zen like individuals you will ever meet.”

Hansman officially takes over June 30th.

Jim Iker will continue as president until June 30, when he will move to the position of past president. Iker served three terms as president, which is typically the maximum a president serves.
