New Years Theft From Cultus Lake Home

Cultus Lake, BC (Global) – As the Wishlows were welcoming 2016, robbers were ringing in the new year at their Cultus Lake home.

“We got a call at our friend’s house saying, ‘come home there’s been a break-in at your house,’” said Kathy Wishlow.

The couple believe the thieves made multiple trips to their home throughout the night, using the Wishlow’s own pickup truck to steal a boat, two quads, televisions and even the mattresses. The estimated total value of what was taken is more than $50,000.

“They had been in the house for at least eight to 10 hours,” said John Wishlow. “They made multiple trips with my pickup, hauling stuff out of here, coming back.”

Neighbours did notice activity around the house, but assumed it was the couple’s son moving some items.

“The other neighbours didn’t think much of it when they saw our pickup truck back into the garage,” said Kathy.

Someone eventually called police after spotting the pickup truck towing the family boat.

The Wishlows are releasing pictures of the stolen vehicles in hopes they will be returned.

Anyone with information is asked to call Chilliwack RCMP.

The Wishlows say the one thing that cannot be replaced is the sense of security stolen from their home of 32 years.

“It’s pretty disheartening,” said Kathy.
