Abbotsford Chamber Awards Four Community Grants

Abbotsford, BC – The Abbotsford Chamber of Commerce awarded Community Grants totalling $2,500 to four Abbotsford organizations at their December luncheon. The Community Grant Program was created to provide financial assistance to non-profit, community-based organizations that provide direct programs, services or activities that enhance the quality of life for Abbotsford residents. The main focus areas of the grants are social services, health, the arts, culture, heritage and the environment.

“The members of the Chamber of Commerce are active participants in all aspects of life in our City and this is a way for us to support some of the organizations and events that make Abbotsford such a tremendous place in which to work, live and play”, said Abbotsford Chamber President Josh Bach.

“This year we received 11 grant applications which were carefully considered by our panel of Board members. There were a lot of great projects proposed which made the choice that much more difficult“, Bach added.

The year’s recipients are:

• The Abbotsford Arts Council for their workshop series “The Art of Marketing”.

• The Atangard Community Project Society for Jam In Jubilee Summer Concert Series.

• The Abbotsford Youth Commission for “Courage in Action”, a specially designed youth empowerment project.

• The Reach Gallery Museum for their Culture Days weekend festival.

Representatives of each of the organizations were in attendance at the luncheon and were presented with cheques.
