Chilliwack School Board – Trustee Vacancy Is Now An Interesting By-Election

Chilliwack, BC – Chilliwack goes back to the polls. Now while this is not as high profile as the recent Federal Election, it is in fact, a little more important than the re-election of Mark Strahl as MP.

This is all about the education of children and who will fill a vacancy. A vacancy with big shoes to fill.

Following the death of trustee Martha Weins who spent 25 years serving District 33, there will be 14 candidates  running for the December 12 by-election. The list could change should any one of them drop out of the race.

Here are four notables:

Angelina Gosselin

Angelina Gosselin is on educational leave from the RCMP. She works as a community wellness worker with Sto:lo Service Agency’s Health Services, and is involved with MADD.

Megan Praat

Young 18 year old Megan Praat, does not come into this race as “just a kid”. Megan sits on the Chilliwack School board’s budget committee and was the former CSS Student Body President. Now at UFV , she is working toward a bachelor’s in business administration.
