Cyrus Centre – 3rd Annual Dessert Banquet – November 20 In Chilliwack

Abbotsford/Chilliwack -Both the Abbotsford and Chilliwack Cyrus Centre youth outreach sites are in a financial crunch. So much so that the Abbotsford Centre on Ware Road is on the brink of actually turning people away.

Donations have trickled off to the point of almost-pannic. The reason is simple. People are very selective about charities that they support due to their own stressed financial situation.

All Cyrus Centre services are funded by donations from businesses, churches, organizations and individuals. Executive Director Les Talvio said in Abbotsford, they don’t want to turn kids away due to demand, but the budget for Abbotsford alone is $420,000 and raising that kind of money is hard. Cyrus Abbotsford is $90,000 under budget.

Chilliwack is in a similar plight. That site, which was controversial in the way it developed with neighbours, opened in 2014. It’s down about $70,000 over last year at this time and operates on an annual budget of about $310,000.

This is why the annual fundraisers for both facilities are so important.

Cyrus Centre Chilliwack is hosting it’s 3rd Annual Dessert Banquet & Auction  at the Main Street Church, 7PM, Friday November 20.

Order your tickets by calling Cyrus Centre at or by emailing ruth@cyruscentre.com.

The evening starts off at 7 pm (doors open at 6:30 pm) and tickets are $20 each or 8 for $140! Dessert and refreshments will be served.

This is a great opportunity to support an organization that walks alongside vulnerable, homeless youth and their families in our community.
