Chilliwack Mounties Arrest Murder Suspect in Grand Prairie Stabbings

Chilliwack, BC –  A Lower Mainland man was arrested early Wednesday morning as RCMP executed Warrants for Second Degree Murder and Aggravated Assault from Grand Prairie Alberta. Jordan Wendland, 28, remains in custody pending a court appearance.

The arrest stemmed after information was received on October 27, 2015 by local police from RCMP Major Crimes Unit investigators in Alberta that the suspect had been seen in the Chilliwack region.

UFVRD Serious Crime Unit (SCU) supported by the General Investigation Section Team (GIST) immediately initiated an investigation and on October 28, 2015 located the suspect at a downtown Chilliwack address. Police officers from the SCU, GIST, and General Duty quickly arrived and cordoned the area.

At approximately 6:15 a.m. the RCMP Lower Mainland District Emergency Response Team entered the home and took the suspect into custody without incident.

“The arrest was made possible by the combined effort of RCMP resources from Alberta and the UFVRD. These efforts re-enforce our commitment to ensuring the safety of the residents in our communities,” said Cpl. Mike Rail.
