Ian’s Walk for End of Life Care – In Chilliwack and Abbotsford Thursday October 22

Fraser Valley/Nova Scotia – Ian Bos’s interested in raising awareness of the event, and of the broader discussion of the need for more and better palliative care. With that in mind, we would like to invite media to events, and make Ian available to media for interviews.

Ian embarked on his walk after his father, Ted, passed away in January. Ted received excellent palliative care towards the end of his life, and Ian was inspired to start walking to raise awareness and funding for this vital service. Ian has met with staff from a number of hospices and palliative care centres along his route so far, and has also had a few celebrity meetings as well, including the Governor General, Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield, and Dr. Balfour Mount, who is widely renown as the father of palliative care as well as many others.

Ian Bos left New Glasgow, Nova Scotia on May 21, and is averaging 45 km a day. He is easily identifiable by his bright green shirt, green shoes, and 50-pound backpack! At present, he is now three quarters of the way though his journey, which is expected to finish on October 26th, when he arrives in Victoria, BC.

Ian is expected to arrive in Chilliwack on October 22nd.
