DFO Allows Specific Salmon Fishing On The Fraser

Mission/Abbotsford/Chilliwack (Star FM) – The DFO opened up some recreation fishing on the Fraser River between the Mission and Alexandria bridges – but only for a few species of salmon.

The Department of Fisheries and Oceans will allow you to catch up to four chinook, four pink, and two chum each day.

Sockeye fishing is still closed, and the DFO is asking people to avoid using methods that are geared towards them.

The DFO will re-evaluate whether to open sockeye fishing when the summer runs come down in late August.
