The Long Way Home – Comes Home July 24th

Chilliwack, BC – On May 1st Kate MacEachern, Cedar Santana and their Long Way from Home Team saddled horses, pulled on their boots and took their first steps on foot and by horseback from Nipawin Saskatchewan in the hopes to raise awareness for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. By horse and by foot, their team crossed 3 provinces in 3 months and over 2700 Kms. TLWH 2015 (East meets West) is the last physical journey for TLWH team. “After 3 years, over ten thousand training and walking kms, we want to take our focus and direct it on long term solutions. This year we focus on coping and healing.”

On Friday July 24th, at 4:30 the team will be arriving at their final destination, Chilliwack BC.

Spokes person, Paula DeWit said “They can expect a very warm Chilliwack welcome. Our MLA’s Laurie Throness and John Martin will be present and they will be flippin’ burgers for the troops. Our Mayor, Sharon Gaetz will also be present to give a few words of welcome to our community. So many wonderful people have come on board to help us make this a memorable finale from the Chilliwack Branch of the Anavets, the Canadian Army Veterans, the Mountain View Harley Davidson to Rick Genge and Bruce Topp and so many more. There will be food and there will be music. There will be folks from all walks of life and many PTSD survivors from Veterans, Fire fighters to first responders. We are hoping for a big turnout from Chilliwack to line the streets as they walk into town.”

Kate and her team will be taking the Prest Road exit and walking down Chilliwack Central, taking a left turn at Broadway and ending at the Chilliwack Airport at 4:30 pm. We are grateful to Garry Atkins, Deputy Airport manager for allowing us to set up in their parking lot.

They are fundraising along with generating awareness so please follow them, and get involved – no support is too small! http://www.thelongwayhome.ca
